In October 2020, The Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) published a new Asphalt Mix Industry Standard (AMIS), a technical standard under O. Reg. 419/05 (Air Pollution – Local Air Quality).
In 2013, the OAPC asked the MECP to develop an industry standard for benzo(a)pyrene (BaP) as an alternative compliance option for asphalt plants under O. Reg. 419/05. The OAPC, along with ORBA, have spent countless hours in stakeholder consultation with the MECP, advocating on behalf of industry, and the publication of the AMIS is the final milestone in that process. Asphalt plants now have an alternative means of complying with air emissions standards in Ontario if they choose.
This webinar will provide an overview of AMIS including: a) how industry standards work; b) how a facility should decide if they can/should register; and c) a high-level summary of requirements.
This webinar should be attended by those responsible for environmental requirements for asphalt plants.
