In 2002, OHMPA created the Trillium Award, which recognizes those plants that go above and beyond the already “gold” standard required by industry regulations. The Trillium Award sets the standard by which all others are judged; good plant operators who are also good corporate citizens. In North America, from 1970 to 1999, annual production of hot-mix paving material has increased by more than 250 percent. However, during that time total emissions from asphalt plants have dropped by more than 97 percent.
OAPC is dedicated to assisting plant operators in maintaining and operating their plants in a manner that minimizes environmental impact. In 2015 OHMPA came out with its 5th edition of Environmental Practices Guide. This is an internationally recognized guide as various industry organizations in the U.S. have also adopted these guidelines.
